This ensures that our graduates are competitive not just within the Kenyan market, but also on the international stage.

iTATU is a core sub-component of KIEP designed to connect student talent directly with corporate challenges. Through this platform, cross-disciplinary teams of students work on real-life product development tasks posed by Kenyan companies. Students in the SKIES track are prioritised for these challenges, providing them with invaluable hands-on experience and potential employment leads.

The project is managed by the SKIES Management Firm (consisting of E4Impact and Spineberg Ltd) under the strict guidelines of the World Bank and the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry (MITI). All beneficiaries—both intermediaries and students—undergo rigorous milestone assessments and site visits (such as the recent audits at Kibabii University) to verify progress before any funds are released.

he KIEP-SKIES project operates in distinct phases. While the initial pioneer cohorts and Phase 1 concluded with a major ceremony in August 2025, the framework has established a sustainable "replicable model" now being adopted by our partner universities. While our primary focus is strengthening the "intermediaries" (the hubs themselves), we host regular National Information Sessions and Pitch Events that are open to the wider innovation community. Furthermore, our Startup Savanna sub-component specifically focuses on connecting Kenyan entrepreneurs to international mentors and early-stage investors.
